Nigel Wilson

Nigels work captures the raw, natural beauty and distinct character of New Zealands Central Otago landscapes through expressive, impassioned brushwork and vibrant, descriptive colour. Oil paint is applied with variety, energy and certainty, with each stroke having a compelling autonomy. More recently Nigel has developed a series of works, different in character, even some mounted gouaches behind framed glass, and acrylic on canvas.

Nigel Wilson - The winner of the ChCh Art Show Award. "Nigel's work 'Orchard Series' captures the natural beauty and distinct character character of Central Otago landscapes through vibrant descriptive colour and emotionally charged brushstrokes. An imposing and resonating colour field tondo results in an almost ethereal light to play on the otherwise hard autumn shapes.
