Through a window we see a scene set in the Alps at dawn. The first glimpses of morning sunlight illuminate the peaks. As the sun warms the valleys we see whispers of mists rising from the fold, blowing away the night. The presence of humans is hinted at by the light shining from inside a mountain hut. Our insignificance is contrasted with the majesty of the mountains. This work ruminates on transitions, the most obvious is that from night to day, illustrated by colour shifting from reflected sunlight to shadows. Another shift is from snow to mist. There is also the effects of time eroding the sharp peaks, into smaller mountains, and then finally into rolling hills. While this is a work of Anna’s imagination it is firmly set in the milieu of the Southern Alps.
