Depicting the tragic end to the Pink & White Terraces in Tarawera (8th Wonder of the World). 31st May 1886 tourists claimed the saw a waka paddled by Māori ancestors with their heads transforming into dogs heads before disappearing. A priest called Tūhoto saw this as a sign and told people to flee. A few days later 10/07/1886 Mt Tarawera violently erupted burying the Pink & White Terraces. This is believed to be consequence of the capitalisation and disrespect of ancestral values.
